Winter Holiday: Day 1

Tuesday 10 January 2012

dWinter Holiday destination: Ulverston, South Lakeland district of Cumbria in north-west England.

Fantastic views!

We like to travel to the Lake District during summer for family day out. This time we are staying for 3 nights and wanted to see some snows in the mountains and have some freezing and exciting adventure.

Luggage, Racksack, shopping bag full of bits and bobs and hand carry bag.

We stayed on the blue-gray house. It's a 3 story holiday house.
Set-off at exactly 13:00 from St. Helens, England to Ulverston, Cumbria, England. It took us an hour and 25 minutes’ drive to reach our destination.

We arrived in Ulverston at 14:25 we get in the house, switch on the central heating, unloading the luggage and bags, park the car and then time for wandering in and around Ulverston.

Ulverston – the town is located in the Furness area, close to the Lake District, and just north of Morecambe Bay. The town is very pretty, lots of independent shops, market, pubs and restaurants.
The town is birthplace of most popular comedian duo Laurel and Hardy.

Yours truly, Harvey and Laurel

Fifteen meters away from the statue it registered in my brain I know them. This is amazing! They are very famous comedian during early Classical Hollywood era of American cinema. OMG! I’ll take the opportunity to stand-up next to them. Next to the statue!

It was Sunday when we arrived in the town. So we expect most shops are closed. We had a lovely time walking around the town of Ulverston.

We go back to the house. Having an hour sitting and watching telly in the living room with the family.

Our Pearl cooking some pasta and chiken for supper.
An hour later we decided to go to Swan Hotel for dinner. We had lovely meal with very nice ambience and a very nice play area for Pearl keeping her busy.
Whilst we're having dinner, the thick snowflakes start gently floating to the ground. Oh that was very romantic moment.

After meal we are in rush going back to the house, because Michael Bubblé is on the telly by 21:00.

It was great start of holiday. The highlight of the day was picture taking with the Laurel and Hardy’s statues and having dinner at the Swan Hotel.
